Ophthalmic Nurse /Ophthalmic Technician

Applications are invited to fill the position of Ophthalmic Nurse /Ophthalmic Technician in a busy Ophthalmologists office in Kingston. the successful candidate will, assist the Ophthalmologist in areas of patient care and general office administration.

Requirements

• Be reliable, organized, proactive, highly self-motivated and willing to learn. Strong team player;
• Be a licensed Registered Nurse or a practical nurse preferably with scrub technician training;
• Be extremely efficient and detailed-oriented. Excellent  time management and organized skills are required. Must be competent in Microsoft Word and Excel;
• Demonstrating strong knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques and patient safety;
• Have an excellent command of English (written and verbal) and display strong critical thinking and communications;
• Additional on-the-job training will be provided. Prior experience working in a medical facility is preferred. Operating theatre experience would be an asset.

Duties

• All day administrative functions such as scheduling appointments and assisting with patient queries;
• Preparing the patient for examination, assisting in procedures, performing vision and diagnostic tests (e.g. tonometry, biometry, visual fields, OCT) and assisting in the efficient office flow.
